Films: The Green Slime (1968)

Summary: In the distant future, no one could be bothered to improve security. Because chances are when they all saw that green goop ominously move and grow a little, they should have thrown it the incinerator.

History: The space shuttle Gamma 3 was about to be ground zero for a nasty alien invasion. Seeing a bizarre moon-sized meteor known as 8 Flora headed for a collision course with Earth, the folks there sent some guys to plant a time bomb. It went according to plan, except the moving green goo there had hitchhiked onto one of their suits. And it grew. Then it spread. Now there's tens of hundreds of multi-eyed tentacled monstrosities running around.

Notable Kills: Their preferred method is touch. It's like touching a couple hundred live wires at once.

Final Fate: Many get gunned down and burnt, but eventually, the Gamma 3 is blown up, taking all of the aliens with it in a burning fireball while the funkiest theme song for marauding aliens plays.

Powers/Abilities: The beasts can reproduce literally from their own blood, as well as the aforementioned shocking touch of theirs.

Weakness: To prevent further green slime spawn, torch the remains.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Definitely uncanny and powerful, as well as being some of the most extreme asexual reproducers in the galaxy, the green slime are somewhat hampered by some clunky costumes.

Trivia: -Any of you MST3K aficionados out there better be thankful for this film, because it was the first to be shown during the show's...early run, in the 80's.

-8 Flora is real, in space, and the innermost large asteroid near the sun. Whether it contains malevolent life forms or not remains to be seen.
